WHO IS JOHN?

John was a good – looking, 6’5”, 250 – pound African American man who played football in college.  He was a partner in a large law firm and lived in a mostly white suburban neighborhood. Every night when he came home from work around 6:30 pm, he would change into his logging clothes and go for a run through the streets of his town.  When white people saw him running toward them, they often crossed the street quickly; several times a police patrol car stopped him and asked for his identification and where he was going in such a hurry.  These things made him angry.
Questions.
1.   What do you think is the problem?
2.   What stereotype is behind the actions in this story?
3.   Give two examples of prejudice as presented in this story

Racism in the United States is a phenomenon of the population of a country thought to have differences with the rest of the world, especially with the black population. There is a belief that whites are a pure race, and tend to see others as an inferior race intellectually, culturally and economically less developed. Many Americans feel that being a developed country, others are invading their territory, creating a feeling isolationist.
The mere fact of see a black person running, gives the impression that someone has committed a crime and tries to escape from the place where the events occur, but appearances are deceptive, not everyone who has run an offense, or all the people who commit crimes are black. I think what exists is a traditional feeling of a country's policy.

     Conclusion:
  • Anyone who runs it is not because a crime has been committed, may be playing sports.
  • The evil exists in white people as black people; the evil does not choose color.
