He was a singer from England. He born in liverpool. He was a member of the Beatles, they were most acclaimed for popular music. The best songs were "give peace a chance" and "imagine"; after he re-emerged with a new album "Double Fantasy".Than he was murdered.
His music was special, because was a critic of the Vietnam war. His music was saled such as number one. For his music, born new movements in opposit Vietnam war, it was a big problem in his life, because for it, he was a problems to be deportes, but a lot of people suported his ideas.

Unit 3     "What does it mean to be polite?"

CULTURE AND CUSTOM

There are customs in every country that can be polite or impolite. Let me explain about how certain customs are different and the same between America and Colombia. For example, in America talking about at the table during dinner, politics money and religion is impolite, but in Colombia is polite to talk about politics, and religion. However it is impolite talk about money  and age. In Colombia and America it is polite to talk about environment, food, music, teather, and history.

About greetings, in America shaving hands for a new seconds is polite, in contrast in Colombia it is polite to grret someone by shaking hands for long time, kissing and huging.

Eye contatc during conversations in Colombia and America are the same. For example, look in someone's eyes, but it is not good to look in someone's eyes when people dont'n know each other.

In conclusion, each country has its own cultures and customs; the difference is in how to behave when visiting a different culture to ours to not make mistakes.

Reflection:

     I chose this writing piece because it was a pleasure to talk about other cultures and other customs, but mainly to express it in another language. It is an important issue, because it leads to anderstand what an inculturation is.
    
     If we set about to write continously, we realize thet every time we make fewer spelling errors, and each time we learn to developed topics of interest, which provide skills, both in knowledge and in the development of writing.



Unit 1 " Why does something become popular?"

SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

I think that social networking sites are good ways, because when people need to communicate with other such as family, friends, and teacher. It is easy and convenient.

There are several reasons. First, communicating with people using social networking sites is easy and quick, because people are in different places and countries. Second, people want to see their family, friends, meet people, or know places. Third, people can get information easily, because they can exchange information wherever they are. Finally, the people can express their feelings, if they need to talk to others. They don’t need a cell phone, or telephone; social networking sites are much easier to send messages or information.

Therefore I know that these programs are very important and necessary. Social networking cities are tools and help people connect to each other wherever they are.

Reflection:
 I chose this writing piece because this is a topic that I have an interest, because all the information that we need quickly comes from internet. Internet is much easier to send messages or information internationaly.
             It is very important to understand the central idea and the ideas that support them. Organizing the three parts such as an introduction, supporting detailes and conclusion is important to clarify the proposed idea.

XENOPHOBIA

 

     Xenophobia is defined as unreasonable fear of foreigners or strangers. It can manifest itself in many ways involving the relations of an ingroup towards an outgrup, such as a fear of losing identity. These people don't participate in public activities, because they want to eliminate their presence.

     They need  a mentor in therapy, who can support them; they should join voluntarily, not forced, assisted by their family or close friends. They additionally should present six characteristics at minimum to be xenophobic, such as, sweaty palms, anguish, a tendency to hide, anxiety, innapropiate actions, ire with the people,   and discomfort  around strangers. 

     They need psychoanalysis and a mentor who can help them to confront people with exercices, such as speaking in public, with their friends, or family, because they need tranquility and good health.

     Finally, they must learn how to reconcile their life with the world and speak without fear; in other words, they look at the world as part of their life.

THE OLYMPICS GAMES

The Olympic Games are a reflection of man’s constant effort to surpass himself… to reach goals and break records, providing focus and physical effort, in order to face new challenges in life. The XXX Olympic Games are a sporting event that is taking place in London, UK from July 27 until August 12, 2012.

China is the delegations with most medals so far, followed by USA.  Colombia has experienced great victories at the Olympics.  This year, the country has brought the largest delegation, and has won the most medals.  The four Olympic medals won by Colombia in very few days of competition have made history in the national sports.

Congratulations to all of our brothers that somehow represent us internationally in the effort to obtain a new face for our country.
